Understanding Scores
How VitalLens evaluates performance
Our scoring combines lab precision with field reality so you can trust the direction of every decision.
Field data (real users)
Field data reflects what real users experience across devices and networks. We emphasize p75 values to match how Google evaluates Core Web Vitals.
- LCP: Good ≤ 2.5s, Needs Improvement 2.5s–4s, Poor > 4s
- INP: Good ≤ 200ms, Needs Improvement 200–500ms, Poor > 500ms
- CLS: Good ≤ 0.1, Needs Improvement 0.1–0.25, Poor > 0.25
Lab data (simulated tests)
Lab tests reveal deterministic issues such as render-blocking assets, layout shifts, heavy scripts, and server latency. Lab scores are best used for diagnosis and improvement planning.
Executive verdict
The verdict summarizes field performance. If field data is missing, the verdict is withheld to prevent misleading conclusions.
What “Excellent” means
Excellent indicates all Core Web Vitals pass for real users and lab results show no systemic bottlenecks. This status still includes opportunities, but the system will de-emphasize critical urgency.
